Les compositions des dernières photographies de PTH font appel à de multiples signes d’appartenance (vêtements, livres, œuvres d’art, accessoires…), mais sont avant tout construites sur l’interaction entre des personnages et des lieux. Ces lieux extrêmement divers, de l’appartement bourgeois parisien à la nature scandinave ou au palais marocain, conditionnent les attitudes des sujets. Comme si l’environnement avait un rôle déterminant sur le genre humain, il y a là une forme d’expressionnisme contenu dans des images apparemment très policées. PTH a particulièrement travaillé sur la possibilité narrative que peut induire chacune de ces images. Elles font appel à des esthétiques codées souvent référentielles. Ces références apparaissent par capillarité : l’apparition d’Andy Gillet celle de Rohmer ou bien Arielle Dombasle celles de Ruiz, de Rohmer ou bien encore de Robbe-Grillet. Chaque photographie évoque la fascination d’une possible image de cinéma et fait également appel à des références picturales fortes, ou tout au moins à des courants esthétiques marqués.
The composition of these photos evoke different markers of group membership (clothes, books, works of art, accessories), but more than anything they are based on the interaction between various places and personalities. These places are extremely varied—from the Parisian bourgeois apartment to the Scandinavian countryside, to the Moroccan palace—and they inform the attitude of the subjects. As if to say that the environment plays a determining role on the human species, one finds a certain expressionism in these seemingly very polished pictures. PTH has worked specifically on the narrative possibility inherent to each of these photos. These photos make use of different aesthetic codes that are often also iconic; each one of them belying a fascination with the cinematic image and at the same time calling upon pictorial references.
